About Formenta Group

Formenta Group consists of the brands Formenta, Fingal Johnsson, Danomast, Uteprodukter.se, Flaggfabriken Kronan, J.O. Flagstang, Jansson & Partner and Glimma.

We develop, manufacture and market durable products and solutions for outdoor environments. Through our specialised and niche brands, we supply companies, organisations, cities and individuals around the world.

We are an independent family business with roots in the founding of Formenta in Sweden in 1972. We have a strong belief in entrepreneurship — and in the idea that our possibilities are limitless.

  • 1972
    Formenta is founded
    The story of the group begins when engineer Olov Nyholm, then a production supervisor at a fiberglass manufacturer in Bredaryd, is given the opportunity to acquire a stake in the company. Olov builds his own factory and establishes Formenta AB in Värnamo.
  • 1974
    Flagpoles launched
    Olov Nyholm builds his first machine for manufacturing fiberglass flagpoles, which becomes Formenta’s first proprietary product. This also marks the beginning of Formenta as a brand.
  • 1978
    Export
    Formenta begins exporting flagpoles, with Denmark and the United Kingdom as its first international markets.
  • 1985
    North America
    Formenta expands its export operations to include North America.
  • 1995
    Generational Shift
    Peter Nyholm acquires Formenta from his parents and continues to develop the family business.
  • 2005
    Group Expansion
    Formenta becomes the majority shareholder of the Dutch company Wego BV, forming Formenta-Wego BV. This marks the beginning of the group’s expansion, with a focus on product development and continuous improvement.
  • 2010
    Danomast Entry
    The group acquires a majority stake in the Danish company Danomast A/S, founded in 1968.
  • 2013
    Next Generation
    Operational leadership is transferred to Peter’s sons Henrik, Carl, and Nils, resulting in a broader product assortment.
    New brand
    Uteprodukter.se is founded
  • 2014
    Acquisition
    The group acquires a majority shareholding in Flaggfabriken Kronan in Helsingborg, founded in 1932 and an official supplier to the Swedish Royal Palace.
    Entrepreneurs of the Year
    Peter, Henrik, and Carl Nyholm are named Entrepreneurs of the Year in their hometown of Värnamo.

    Rapid Growth
    Uteprodukter.se is recognised as one of Sweden’s fastest-growing e-commerce companies.
  • 2019
    Acquisition
    The group acquires all shares of AB Fingal Johnsson & Söner, founded in 1928.
  • 2020
    New Factory
    Formenta relocates to a brand-new 6,000-square-metre factory in Värnamo, including office space.
  • 2022
    Acquisition
    The group acquires all shares of Jansson & Partner, founded in 1980.
    Award
    The Nyholm family receives the Nothin Award for their journey with the Formenta Group.
  • 2024
    Acquisition
    The group acquires all shares of Danomast A/S.
    New brand
    The brand Glimma is founded, focusing on outdoor lighting solutions.
    Acquisition
    All shares of J.O. Flagstænger ApS are acquired by Danomast A/S.
  • 2025
    Fossil-free Transport
    Formenta achieves its goal of 100% fossil-free transport for flagpoles using its own truck fleet.
